Booking approval and payment deadlines

Know when a request is pending, accepted, paid, confirmed, or expired.

About this topic

Choose, book, check in, and review a stay with clarity.

Key guidance

01

A request-to-book stay is not confirmed when submitted. The host has the displayed approval window to accept or decline it; the guest is not charged while approval is pending.

02

After host approval, the guest must complete payment before the payment countdown expires. An accepted request remains pending payment and does not reserve a confirmed stay indefinitely.

03

Treat the booking as confirmed only when its status changes to Confirmed and a successful payment record is visible. A return page or payment-app redirect alone is not proof of completion.

04

If approval or payment expires, the booking is cancelled automatically and inventory becomes available again. Open Trips or Host Bookings for the authoritative current status.

05

Choose notification categories and follow approval and payment countdowns promptly.
